Practicing Food Photography: Cherries

I’ve been distracted by my camera lately. I’m not really sure what’s come over me. Part of it is the inspiration all around me; the beautiful structures of older buildings that I bike past each week, the vines climbing up brick walls and curling around iron fences, roses blooming, fresh fruit at the market beckoning me to take a bite of juicy sweetness. It’s difficult to sit for very long in front of the computer.

For that reason, I will be focusing on food photography for the next few months. It’s something I’ve been meaning to improve upon anyway. Hopefully by the time I go back to writing recipe and gardening posts, my photos will be much better than before, which will make future posts more fun to read.

So the subject for today is: cherries!! They were on sale at the grocery store so I bought both white ones and dark ones. There’s just something about them that seems carefree and sophisticated at the same time, so I tried to capture that feeling in these photos.

All comments and feedback are welcome! These photos were taken using full manual mode as I’ve been learning how to adjust the shutter speed and aperture. Part of the learning curve is just knowing what angles to shoot from, what background objects to use, and so on. At this point it’s all trial and error for me so I’ll take whatever advice I can get!

Thanks for stopping by today :)
